Urgent Help!! Ignition Locked??!!!
MY IGNITION WONT UNLOCK ITSELF!!
IVE TRIED EVERYTHING;............CUSSING AT IT, SPANKING IT, OFFERING IT BEER, GIRLS, AND IT STILL WONT UNLOCK!!
I ALWAYS CARE SPARE KEYS WITH ME, SO I TRIED TWO OTHERS, AND NO LUCK!!
DOOR LOCK OPENS FINE, BUT IT WONT UNLOCK THE IGNITION!!
IVE TURNED THE WHEEL BACK AND SO FORTH, SO MUCH, I NOW LOCKED IT AND WONT TURN AT ALL!!
IM STUCK AT WORK........... WHAT IS IT??!!

seriously though.... put the key in, and shake the steering wheel and the key back and fourth.

I had this very same problem. You need to go to a store with auto supplies and buy some lock lubricant. I think if you get the graphite it will make a mess. The stuff I got was in a little aerosol can and I just pushed the tip of it in the key hole and it fixed my problem.

It's called Qualco. It's a pressurized lock lubricator with de-icer added. For all types of locks.

Since I cant do nothing from where Im at, I called a towing thingy to come pick me up..........
But ill definitely buy that as soon as I get home and have transportion to get that
i wonder if stuff like wd-40 workds..........??

Hope wd-40 in a lock is a deperate joke Don't put any non lock lube in there. It could cause major problems down the road.
Hope your home and have had the few beers you offered the ignition.

Yes, my truck is an auto, and yes it was in park all the way.
A few months ago, the mechanical sensor that controls the shifter lever broke so I wasn't able to out from PARK. I fixed it manually by place a place so this instert wont lock. You'll have to know what Im talking about to understand. The reason why I mention this, is that now, I dont have to have the key inserted in so I can move the shifter. I can move it any time I want just as long as my foot is in the brake.
Anyways, whats funny is that when the two guy got there, he gave it try and BAM the damn thing turned!
He did the exact same thing I did but who knows why it went for him and not for me. Maybe becuase Im always throwing cannon balls at my truck and its learned not too like me. Maybe I should start treating it better. Ill have to take that into consideration.
Now, I went out and bought some lock lub at NAPA and I just sprayed some in there, and it seemed to work. Eventually though, Im going to have to change that ignitition on way or another. I just didnt want have two keys with me, one for the door lock and another for the truck ignitition. Damnit!
Oh well, wether I like it or not, it seems as its going to be route Im going to have to take. I dont want to risk being stranded again and having to put up with tow guys (the damn dude charged me $40 bucks just for going out there, which of those $40 I only had $30, but thats another long story....).
Finally, Id like to thank the members that replied with possible solutions instantly. On the real, thats really appreciative of me.
Just so you guys know how appreciative I was and am about that, write down your complete name and address and Ill mail out a 12 pack of the beer of your choice for free! Id also include couple honeys in there for yall but unfortunately, they cannot be mailed... LOL!

Just a note on the shaking the wheel thing...
I've had this happen a couple times and as long as everything else is ok (tumblers not stuck) another trick is to try and turn the wheel. Sometimes such as when parked on a hill with the wheels turned, the wheel lock presses against the lock cylinder and makes it nearly impossible to turn the key. Turning the wheel with some effort in the correct direction will relieve the pressure and let you unlock it.
Or sometimes you just have to wait a bit until the truck is ready to go home. They can be stubborn...

What cylinder??
What are tumblers??
I only know the simple stuff like, tires, rims, keys, P, D, N, R, 2, 1, doors, hoods, and thats about it.

Cylinder = the whole assembly you put the key into, it's shaped like a cylinder...
Tumblers = the little thingies™ the key matches up with to unlock the lock

LOCK Tumblers. Those are a part of the Lock Cylinder and are the things that follow the bumps on the key and allow the vehicle to start with YOUR key only.

Well, even after that lock lub, it's still not working properly. It's just a matter of time before it leaves me stranded again.
I've manged to figure out how to play it to turn the ignition. I have to move the steering wheel along with the key in the ignition back and forth vigorously, for it to turn.
My truck smells like gas right now.
How much are these cylinders by the way, anyone have an idea? I'm refering to the one from the dealer. If they're anywhere in the thousands, forget it.
