I am not completely getting this...if anyone could clarify, I'd be grateful.
Basically with an auto transmission you can use this without trouble because the flywheel is so light?

Not me... I'm not convinced that having some "flywheel weight" on the crank is such a bad thing.
I understand the concept of how removing weight will help in terms of less mass to overcome under acceleration, but when it comes time to throttle down, then I would think not having the weight there will completely change the ballistics of the engine idling back down - and not in a good way.
For me, this is a lot different than the argument made to remove the mechanical fan. The clutch on the fan disengages on decel anyway...

In just 2 more days and this lightened crankshaft pulley will be available for sale to the public. After you installed this pulley on your 3rd Gen., you will get an additional 20 acceleration HP (19.91 HP to be exact). Here is the picture of what it looks like, a very nice anodized red finish:

Someone is going to have to step up and be the guniea pig. You can post that you want someone to try it as many times as you want but until someone decides they are going to bite the bullet and do it. Its not gonna happen. I'd do it, but I have a 2nd gen.

I ran a URD pulley on Honda CRX for almost 100,000 miles with no problems. The car had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it and over 150,000 when I sold it. No internal work or any work other than a preventative timing belt change was done, or needed. It ran like a new car till the day I sold it.

I see a few posts in here about the crankshaft pulley being a harmonic balancer, which in the case of the 3.4L and 3.0L it is not.
I actually thought so at first too and disagreed with Gadget that the motors did in fact have a harmonic balancer. With a bit more research I found out that the harmonic balancer on the front is actually just a pulley with a rubber ring to dampen the shock on the driven ascessories. Both the 3.0 and the 3.4 are in fact both internally balanced motors.....this is why the engines are so bullet-proof and they run for 200-300k before a rebuild.

What was worse though is getting the pulley off the shaft - a LOT of prying with crowbars, a bit of finagling with a puller... The shaft was working on becoming an integral part of the pulley.

All modern Toyota engine's are 100% balanced internally. All Toyota v6's have one of 2 balancing schemes. The vz-fe, 2vz-fe, 3vz-e, 4vz-fe, 5vz-fe, 1mz-fe, 2mz-fe, and 3mz-fe have 5 full coutnerweights on the crankshaft.
The 3vz-fe has 9 semi-counterweights. (Odd-ball of the family LoL!)
Toyota does NOT use balancing weights outside of the engine on any modern engine. All i4's have counter-rotating balance shafts, while I6 & V engines are balanced on the crankshaft.
The engine won't care if it had nothing slung off the end of the crank, or tens of pounds slung off one side. A 20lb lightning on either side is not going to hurt the engine in any way.
Like MTL_4runner pointed out. They are not balancing pulleys to begin with.
There is nothing to be scared of AFA engine damage from the pulleys. I would want to see a dyno before buying. Pulleys & flywheels have a strong tendancy to make little until the very top of the powerband. They grow exponentially, so make sure that's what you want of your powerband.

Is anyone running one of these yet. From what i've read about how the engine is totally interanlly balanced, it shouldn't matter what the heck is hanging off each end. No harmonic balancers...
What kind of performance gains are we looking at? this mod isn't THAT expensive, and the red looks pretty badass
