u joints ?
ive been trying to track down a shake and shimmy my 96 t-100 has been giving me , and i got to thinking the other day could it be the u joints going bad ?
what are the symptoms of u joints going bad ?
the shake and shimmy is a real pronounced shake , not a quick and jerky shake , but like the whole truck is rocking back and forth . it doesnt pull to any side , the wheels have been balanced recently , shocks feel good .
im also in clined to think it could be an unbalanced driveline i nthe rear, or a combination of both the ujoints and driveline.
and ideas ?

im not sure if your truck has it but it could be a bad center carrier, the u joint thing that is mid section in your rear drive shaft or both, my buddie has an 85 toyota and that was his problem and it sounds like yours is doing the same thing as his...
check and see if they are loose ( if there is slack id the joints, if so repalce them they sholdnt be too expensive, i replaces all four of mine in my 1968 landcruiser fj-40 for less then 50 bucks

Have you done any offroading where the DS may have been damaged or bent? You might test by taking out the rear shaft and driving in 4X4. (this would eliminate the DS / U-joints as a cause. No bent rims, bad tire? have someone drive next to you looking at all 4 tires for any vibration

no offroading , as of yet , brand new wheels . my roomate said he didnt see anything out of the ordinary while driving behind me .
i did notice that some of my bushings seem to be a bit worn , could this be a cuase ?
also , would the rear axle /shock mount being seperated at one time and being re welded on cause this , possibly due to alignment problems ?
