Hello,
I have read on here that many use the Tundra TRD 4x2 & or 4x4 front coil springs when configuring a lift. I have a 1996 Tacoma and got some feedback from someone in a PM who said that those springs are WAY too stiff and the truck would ride like a cement truck... to those who have used them already, is that true? what is the ride like? Stiffer I'm sure but how much, how "bad"?

I have them and yes stiff, by no means horrible but if you plan a larger heavier front bumper/winch, it will ride awesome jm.02

I will typically be carrying a LOT of weight... to and from my hunting & camping spot(s) any and or all of the following: Camper shell, Over the shell gear rack, lots of heavy camping & hunting gear in the bed, front steel tube bumper with brush guard (no winch), rear tube bumper with receiver & hitch, maybe my quad or snowmobile in the bed and or towing a trailer with quads or snow mobiles… So I need BEEFY.

What you're hauling has minimal weight going to the front suspension so it's not that big of a deal. The 4x4 coils were not ideal for crawling, but they worked good and a ton better than stock coils. Based on your load requirements you may want to look into Alcan's or custom Deavers for the rear. The 4x4 Tundra coils did not make my truck handle like a cement truck. The ride with OME n91s shocks and Tundra coils was almost plush compared to the stock setup.

Thanks for the skinny Tanto. Haven't quite decided what to do yet but am narrowing it down. Right now I'm looking at the ToyTec coil over adjustables... Nice but pricey. I do like the fact that they are adjustable so I can level out my ride depending on how the rear ends up... Right now I'm looking into the Alcan add a leaf and maybe a 1- 2" shackle for the rear with the extended shocks. Any thoughts or input on those options?
