I have a SS TRD exhaust on my 99. I thought the TRD was built by Borla?

i am not a fan of my trd cat back. the muffler looks good, the piping and tip are terrible. maybe i got a bunk one but it's rusting like no other. the flange(?) where the O2 sensor bolts to is REALLY rusty and the tip is falling apart from rust since they cut the "TRD" into it and the inside of the tip flakes rust off just from looking at it wrong. i'm going to try to get by for a few more years with just a new stainless "magnaflow" tip from a local shop, and then i'll do it the right way as suggested by everyone else here. the sound is a little louder mostly at low rpms but it is not "beefy" enough for my ears. save your money and get something cheaper and better looking/sounding. i live in iowa too where they sand and salt the roads for a good portion of the year so that may have something to do with the rust, however the rest of my undercarriage is pretty darn clean w/o rust, i dunno.

You would need to reweld it. It's cracked. I actually have a brand new stainless borla muffler that they sent me by mistake 3 years ago for the original warranty - it was incorrect because it was clamp on and not bolt on. That, plus the tailpipe in the picture, which is intact (you'll have to fabricatea bit to fit the clamp style muffler) might get you somewhere. The muffler has never been used.

Personally.. I'd save the money and goto an exhaust shop that has a mandrel tube bender, and get a custom made exhaust... If you do it this way, you can also have shorter hangers for more clearance..

Mandrel bent stainless steel elbows were used.

In the last picture, the pipe was widened to fit over the other snug.

On the cat side of the muffler, I instructed the shop not to mess with the stock O2 sensor bung and so they welded the 2.5" pipe over the stock 2.25" pipe - not pictured.

My factory cat-back TRD exhaust is getting slightly louder with break-in. I like the tone, it reminds me of an I/O runabout with underwater exhaust, not too loud, a nice rumble. My neighbor says it sounds much louder outside than inside. The tip cleans up easily with Goof-Off and a rag. Don't know how long it will last, but it's covered under warranty for 5yrs./60K.
