TPS Question

Ok, so we might have finally found out why my transmission has been constantly overheating. My TPS keeps throwing a code (I'll find it in a minute) and we think this could be the problem. The guy Frank who has been working on it for the past 6 months suggested to me today that this TPS code is the malfunction. The tps is not allowing the 4runner to go into overdrive so it is running in 3rd gear and is causing the overheating. Does this have anything to do with the lockup and all that or does the solenoid take care of that?

So my options are buy a new tps for $140 or dont.

Do it?

If the TPS is bad, then that could be youre problem with not being able to go over 2500 RPMs ( i think you had a thread about that too). I really do not know about automatic transmissions so I cant help you out there. Hopefully someone else will see this and chime in for you.

[Off topic] are you planning a trip to the beach before it gets cold? PM me if so. Maybe you could come down when the challenge truck gets here!

I would be down. I just would rather come in the cold...hopefully my tires wont wear as bad on the way and way back.

Yea it was me with the 2500 RPM thread. That was a valve in the valve body sticking. The TPS could have been effecting it still. We didn't run a computer check.

Thanks Will.
