Toyota Roof Racks

I bought some Toyota Roof Racks for the Tacoma Double cab. My dealership said at least $300 for the install of them. Does this seem reasonable or should I look elsewhere? They do require drilling into the roof. THanks.

$300 seems a bit high for just drilling 8 holes. If you're pretty comfortable with the drill, it should be pretty simple to do on your own.

Thats what I thought. There are no instructions and even though im comfortable with a drill, this is a mistake i dont want to make.

300 bucks for a roof rack install ! ! !

it costs $10 in parts, its really not that hard. i just remounted my factory roof rails with bolts (as opposed to stock using screws) to make it stronger. as long as you take your time and position the rack THEN drill the holes theres no problem. id never pay the stealership that kinda dough for something that simple. couple bolts and some caulk sealant and you're set.

One of two things will happen, I will die, or the truck will be finished. I'm not sure which will be first.

the racks cost $170 and they include the little threaded metal bits that somehow attach to the roof in which the screws hold the racks down. i dont know how it works though.

*SARCASM MODE ON*Oh yes guys these roof racks are so hard to put on a rig. It takes six hours to install. At $50 an hour for those 6 hours will cost $300. *SARCASM MODE OFF* LOL Tell them to shove it and do it yourself. Its easy. Im sure a fellow YotaTechy can loan you the proper tools or give a helping hand. If you were in my area i'd help you. Good luck.
