I've been using the original Yankee Toys version of the EPC for years now ever since they first put it on line. Just updated it with the new one, no problems. I run the data off cd, or rather from the cd images over the network mounted using Daemon Tools. Works great, even from work connected into my home network through the cable modem. The slow upload bandwidth isn't even noticeable.
No need to make a special partition, just fill up the drive with junk data (like multiple copies of the disk images) until you have less than 6gigs free then install, and afterwards remove the junk files.

If you get the "not enough disk space" error, it may be the program isn't reading your available space correctly. It requires a drive (or a drive partition) that is 6GB or less. I have mine installed on my win2k machine, I used Powerquest Partition Magic to partition my drive easily.
