Check their feedback.
Its a resistor. They are worth about .02 cents at Radio Shack. You put it inline for the IAT (Intake Air Temp) wire that sends the signal to the ECU for a modified fuel/ignition map.
Basically, your truck thinks the intake air is colder than it really is, and runs more "agressive" fuel/timing. The key point here is that it dumps more fuel into the combustion chamber (claims to anyway).
All I have to say, is look at their feedback. That should be enough to discourage you.
Try the ISR mod first. Then you will "truly" get a modified fuel/ignition change. Check out Dr Z's findings for more info.

But I will say I give Dr Z a lot of credit for being the guinea pig on some of these mods. I just wouldnt do the resistor on my (next) truck.

I'm not sure either, but I'm wondering if this ECT mod could possible help the pinging and lean out that most folks are having with the S/C? I'm wondering if it would be enough to make a difference as the RPM's climb higher, where most people are leaning out and losing power.

I'm not sure if the cause is from the stock injectors and fuel pump maxxing out or if it's something that could be slightly or totally fixed by the ECT mod. I wonder who would know that. Dr. Z maybe, but he's not supercharged, I don't think.

98_Limited is correct. The "Chips" they are selling are resistors which you can buy at Radio Crack for next to nothing.
On some vehicles, changing the IAT affects injector pusle width. But on our trucks, modd'ing the IAT has NO effect on this. So, you will NOT see more HP or poorer Fuel Economy if you mod the IAT.
Another point to this is that not every vehicle or company uses the same IAT Resistance curve. So, how do these people who sell these "Chips" know if the resistor they are selling will even work on your IAT?
In the ECT Thread, Gadget brought up the idea of me using my "gadget" on the IAT. I had already tried this before he posted that. I also spoke to Jay about it and he told me that the IAT won't affect injector pusle width on our trucks since Toyota does not engineer the vehicles to respond to that.
So, there you have my opinion and experience with it.
The ECT mod DOES work as I advertised.

PERFORMANCE CHIP 4runner INSTALLED
MY JAWDROPPER PERFORMANCE CHIP I GOT FOR CHEAP.
I installed it and have been using it for about a year now.
The performance is unbelievable, It is tuned differently and the thing kicks up to 60 mph in 7 seconds. I have a 4 inch suspension lift and 35" BFG tires, you won't believe how much power this chip added. I can cruise at 85 MPH but be warned, I have been getting pulled over.
I THINK it is definately worth the money. Plug it into the brown and brown and black wire, I cannot believe the power and it took 2 weeks after the hook up to experience the difference, but I mean it is definately noticable and I race jeeps and chevy s10's with the 3.4 liters and pass them. Keep in mind I have a 3.0L v6 1994 4runner and it is fast! AHAHAHHAHAHA
