Torque spec for 3rd gen wheels

I looked in my owners manual and searched here and couldnt find how heavy the lug nuts need to be torqued. I am putting LT265 75 16's (Toyo Open Country AT's) on my stock 16" rims Monday and I want to ask the shop to torque the lug nuts properly instead of using an air wrench. Anyone know the torque for the lugs?

BTW, I know that I need to re-torque them after about 100 miles.

Alloys around 86 ft-lbs
Steelies around 108 ft-lbs

Torque is rim material dependent as tire size is irrelevant.

I think Brian is about right. I seem to remember 83 ft-lbs from my shop manual. Either way, 83 - 86 ft-lbs is way better than the 6500 ft-lbs those gun jockies usually use...

And don't fall for the old NTB trick - wherein they slam the lugnuts on with an air wrench (set at 100 ft-lbs or so) then act out this charade with the torque wrench (set at 5 ft-lbs or so). They honestly think most people are so dumb that if they hear the click of the torque wrench, they'll believe it was done right.

Thanks. I have the alloys, so I'll ask them to do them about 85 or 86 ft lbs. Now, I'll have to see if I can somehow see what they are doing...

I would check each weel a few days after instal. Sometimes the lugs loosen a bit especially with alloy wheels .
