Tire Gaps/Lift

Ok, I tried finding my old thread and couldn't find it. I went out and measured the height of the Fenders. Keep in mind I do have the Ltd. Flares... If that makes a difference.
Front:38"
Rear:39"

For those that didn't see the previous post I just had the downey adjustables put on and I had to crank them all the way up to get one inch lower than the rears but they claim 0-4inches of lift and I know running 4inches of lift is a death wish for the CVs so I was wondering what you guys were getting. I also have a TJM so that weighs things down. I don't know if the shocks are shot or if this setup is just looser than my previous HD OME setup and it just is bouncier. Anyway... what ride heights are you guys running in the front espcially?

You should get right around 3 inches of lift. They claim to get ~3.5 inches of lift. The coils can be cranked up ~4 inches, but that doesnt mean you get 4 inches of lift How many inces are you getting? Just 2? Ive got about 2 but still a good inch to go up (have arb and winch though)

I didn't get to measure the ride height before they put them in b/c I had an OME lift that was sagging from the TJM. What is your current ride height? I think the shocks are shot as they are cranked all the way up and still an inch shorter than the rear. Also the 285s are rubbing at full lock (turn to the left only).

If you measured from the Top edge of the wheel to the bottom of the fender we would have a better idea of the amount of lift you have.

Measuring from the ground to the bottom of the fender isn't that consistant.

This will be tough to use anyone else's measurements as your baseline. I'll give you mine even though I have an '02 which was lower to start out with. So, I'm really not sure how much that comes into play. I would say fellow '96-'98 owners will be your best bet, though. You really need to know your measurements on your vehicle to determine lift. Variables such as my tire pressure and tread depth will play some kind of difference I would think.

When my 285's were new this spring and my front end set to 2.5" and my rear springs providing 3.5":

Front: 37 1/2"
Rear: 38 5/8" (driver); 38 7/8" (passenger)

Measuring from the top of the wheel to fender is a tough measurement to get, for me anyway. Here, I basically used a straight edge going perpendicular to the wheel. Otherwise without, your measuring tape will be folded around the tire adding extra length. So, I don't think any of it's an exact science.

Front: 12 7/8" (driver); 12 3/4" (passenger)
Rear: 12 3/4 (both)

Good thing you made me measure mine again. It looks like my front has sagged .5" and my rear 1" since I measured last. Hmm. If that is true, I'm sitting around 2" in the front and 2.5" in the rear. However, I've lost 1/4" tire tread in the meantime as well, so I guess I have to factor that in along with my 8" wheels that I've since added if that does anything. Whew! Too much to think about right now. I can't even figure out my own lift!

Those are your ballpark numbers anyway. Mine might be out in left field compared to yours. Not real sure at all.
