Tint

I was wondering if anyone knew if the two back windows on my car are factory tinted platinum. If they are, is the platinum in the glass? Right now only the back two windows have the platinum. I've seen a few other 4 Runners with only the two rear windows tinted platinum. I'm getting ready to do my tint and the guy doing the tint said that he thought they were factory tinted platinum. The platinum is more expensive plus it will need another layer of tint. Thanks for the input.

what do you mean by platinum? On my 4runner all the windows except the driver and passenger one in the front were tinted (about 20%), and the tint was in the glass so you couldn't take it off, they were tinted black or smoke, I have never heard anybody call them platinum, I hope this helps

i could be mistaken, but when he refferes to platnum, he means the kind of half way looking mirror tint that was normally found on 2nd gen. it also looks brown too , or atleast thats how i see it. not the black tint that you 3rd gen. guys have and if im completely off here, just ignore me..

do your windows resemble mine?

Doink
What year is your 4 Runner?
Yes, what you are describing is the platinum. My back two windows look just like your windows. I've seen on later 2nd gens the brown that you are talking about. I don't think that I have that, but I have a layer of 15% or 20% also on it. The reason that I think it is in the glass is because only the back two windows have it. I don't think that the previous owner would make only the back two windows platinum.
