Temp sender comparison Autometer vs Glowshift

I am installing a transmission temp gauge in my rig to the left of the steering wheel in the dead switch area. So I bought and installed a Glowshift gauge and I really do like it but it has a magnefied lense which makes it hard to read where I have it installed. So I bought a new Autometer gauge 2640 to replace it.

Now both gauges come with a sender and I searched across the web for a Ohm map to compare the two senders. Why change out the glowshift sender if its compatible with autometer gauges? Well it looks like it a direct replacement. The reason for this thread is to let you know the glowshift sender is a 2 wire sender which will make grounding it a little easier and a cleaner install.

Here are the Resistance (Ohm) maps for each brand.

Here's what I found when I emailed Glowshift's tech dept.:
Glowshift
Ohms.....Degrees F*
925.........104*
438.........140*
224.........176*
120.........224*
68...........248*
41...........284*

Autometer
Auto Meter 2258/2259 Thermistor Specifications
Temperature = Ohms:
100°F = 1123Ω ±102Ω (Enter 999 - above this, ECU defaults to 'Ohms x 10'.)
120°F = 708Ω ±59Ω
140°F = 460Ω ±35Ω
150°F = 374Ω ±27Ω
170°F = 253Ω ±17Ω
190°F = 175Ω ±10Ω
200°F = 149Ω ±8Ω (I mathematically averaged this in, for 16 data points.)
210°F = 123Ω ±7Ω
212°F = 119Ω ±6Ω
220°F = 105Ω ±5Ω
230°F = 89Ω ±5Ω
250°F = 65Ω ±4Ω
280°F = 42Ω ±3Ω
300°F = 32Ω ±2Ω
320°F = 25Ω ±2Ω
340°F = 20Ω ±1Ω

Update: I swapped out the glowshift with a Autometer gauge after verifying the gauges were reading the same temp once I brought it up to operating temperature.

Just an aside. I was able to scrounge a nice 2 wire weather pack electrical connector off of a Volkswagon in a junk yard to replace the bullet connectors in the picture above. I paid $2 for 3 of them. This make maintenance in the future much easier.

I would get a pillar pod for the gauges personally, a lot cleaner and can be undone later if you decide you want to change things up. Also allows you to install a few gauges in direct line of sight.

Far as the sender, up to you, you can most likely use either sender but the readings may be screwed slightly.
