what's even crazier was that after i got my license, the two vehicles available to me were the '90 runner and and old '75 cj-5. my dad insisted that i drive the runner when he didn't need to drive to work (it was safer, i guess). i know if i were in the same position i wouldn't let my dumba$$ teenage driver touch my new truck.

I also learned on my dads(now my 4runner) I also learned in the 87 accord..had to use pillow and telephone book to see out, no joke! I am blessed to have parents that allowed me to use their vehicle, and ended up giving me the best of out 3 other vehicles at the time. I can only return the favor when I have kids.

My uncle gave me my 96 4runner which i learned how to drive on, as he used to own a toyota dealership and i've only hit a deer, a telephone pole(sheet of ice w/ no traction whatsoever) and a pos honda civic( she cut me off ). Its a good car to learn on because it has no power (2.7) so don't worry im sure your 4Runner will be just fine

Hehe. I learned in a POS 97 GMC Jimmy. Needless to say, I put 6k HARD miles on it, and 2 sets of brakes until it finally bit the dust (138k miles). Carmax gave them $3900 for it! Replaced with an Infiniti QX4-much more reliable!
