Tacoma manual transmission
Does anyone know where to get a replacement 5spd tranny for a early year tacoma 1995 and on. Do you usually get it rebuilt or exchange it for a new one? Should I be looking at a junk yard somewhere? I am having shifting problems...syncros i think. Thanks!

Maybe you can rebuild it yourself? If you know for a fact that it's the synchronizers then just get a kit then save you some money. Rebuilding manual trannies arent that hard, or at least to me. We did it in class and it was a breeze for most of us.

You're looking at about $2,000 for the Toyota brand rebuild kit. Just had mine done through warrant. Fixed it right up though. Then again... these are genuine Yota parts.

It could just be the shifter bushing. Do a search, alot of people on the board have the same problem. About $20 in parts and a half hour of time. Symptoms will be hard shifting, grinding ect.
