Most for the emergency guys here: anyone have a switch mounted in the center console of a 2nd gen for your strobe light? Ive been wanted to do it for a while and am tired of tieing up a cig outlet.
Thanks

I have a switch for my emergency strobe lights,. I put my on the right side of the dash just under the vent. Its connected to a 3 cig outlet i installed. The switch power my dash strobes, 4 corner undercover strobes, and siren. In the pic you can just see the switch thru the steering on the right.

I worry about installing switchs in the center console area. That area gets to dirty and sticky plus i toss my 2way radio their and i know i would hit the switchs and turn them on by mistake

I have a dash-mounted strobe and a rotator I throw on my roof. I don't have a switch though. What I did was go to RadioShack and get one of those 3 to 1 cig adapters. Basically all it is is that you put it in the cig lighter and you get three. I use two for my lights and have an extra for whatever. Check that out! :fireman:

Do you think that you could use the OEM switch that we use for foglights? That would be pretty cool and it would look stock. You might even be able to switch the color or the little light to either red or blue, whatever the light is. That might be an option, try that out! :fireman:

I am trying to think how that would work. You would have to cut off the cig adapter and figure out which one is the strobe's ground and ground that to the chasis. Then you would have to put that other wire to the switch. You would then have to get another wire and put it on the switch and run it to a power supply. Lastly, use some more wire to ground the switch. That is the right way I think to set that up. As far as changing the color, you would have to mess around with that. Let me know how you make out. Goodluck. :fireman:

i grabbed a few stock switches from a wrecked runner over the summer for that very same idea. Also the icons on the switchs can be removed. I want to place a flame icon on the switch for my strobes.

How are they removed. Do you use some sort of paint remover, or gasoline? Just wondering. Thanks. :fireman:
