Tacoma whip antenna is a direct bolt on swap for a 3rd gen 4Runner.

Crappy thing for me is I swapped out a perfectly working power antenna for the Taco whip and now the reception is horrible. There's really only one way to plug this in and it doesn't work well for me. Good luck though...

If your reception sucks then you didn't hook something up right or it is shorted...they do make antenna extension cables. My CD player/radio is in my center console between the seats and I installed a Taco whip on my 87...works great and no power antenna to rip off.

Non-SR5 runners don't have a power antenna either.

I would just do what Elton did unless you really like the look of the black whip.

fyi...When i bought my Tacoma antenna assembly from Northridge Toyota, it came with a chrome antenna. The black whip from what i believe has to be purchased seperate.
I did however, take a black whip (antenna) off my brothers wrecked '01 Tacoma so thats what i'll be using when i get around to swaping out my curently broken motorized antenna....which i was going to do anyway when it still worked.
