Question Speedo Cable

I am about to replace the speedo cable on my '89 p/u (it makes a horrible grinding/squealing noise when the vehicle is moving) and I was wondering if there were any tips/tricks I should know about.

TIA

It might just need to be lubed. The squealing speedo is pretty common in our rigs. Mine only does it first thing on cold mornings for a couple miles.
