Quotes from SnowTech Magazine,

"over 95% of total CO2 emissions would occur even if humans were not present of earth"

and

"Global cheeseburger consumption (yes, cheeseburgers) may produce more greenhouse gases than automobiles and gas powered engines. Say what? A 408-page report from the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization claims that 18% of greenhouse gases are coming from animal agriculture used in making HAMBURGERS. They estimate that switching to plant-based diets could eliminate nearly 20% of man-made global warming. First they want your SUV, now your cheeseburger. What's next?"

Yes, that may be true (or it may not be) but I'll take your word for it. First, I'm pretty sure there are more cows in the world than cars. Second, they produce more than all the CARS, not counting all the electricity production that harms the environment, production of various products/goods, heating/cooling, etc.

I understand why the OP took out the cat if money was tight. Thats reasonable to me, but only if he plans on replacing it once he gets the funds. And really, one car is not going to make much difference, but since there are a lot of cars already running with no cat, it does contribute. Oh well, he is in Florida....thats far away from me

I won't get into a long argument over this, this will be my last post on the matter but that is exactly what i was talking about ^^

*Decides to not going into the whole fact that global warming is a bunch of hog wash and point out that the earth is actually cooling down now*

Back to the O2 sensor, be sure to report back what you find, i am getting a high flow cat that might make me through a code and want to know the same things.

After some googling turns out Jeb Bush was responsible for abolishing smog testing in Florida in 2000. So you technically can get your 4Runner to be coal powered!!!

Global warming and evolution are total hogwash made up by those liberals from 'em north states with their fancy edumacations and sciense based religious cults

reason asking is that the few days befor the CEL i was getting great fuel mileage and more power (throtle response) then before the removel.

and to the others about the high flow cats.....why? Florida does not have the emissions...yet!
I didn't notice any difference, but I didn't drive it long before I got rid of the P0420 problem. I hate driving with a CEL on.

God I hope neither of you ever buy a sports car and get on a forum. A large percentage of people run catless.

Dang my truck probably pollutes more than his, smokes like a diesel and burns oil... and I have a new cat!!! But I do understand what you mean with the price of those things, I got a universal one and it works fine, no CEL. I think it was 80 bucks??

When I bought the truck the cat was gutted, and I put a new one on (long story why, not going to get into that here), and didnt notice a loss of power at all, really the only reason to do it is to make the exhaust louder. You maybe gain 1hp getting rid of the cat, and those hi-flow ones dont really do anything, they free up a little HP but not that much, on the other hand I do know that 2 hi flows will replace 4 stock cats FWIW.

urd's o2 simulator is what $59 plus time to install, a high flow cat/ universal cat $150. Are you S/C or turbo. If you N/a there is no point. It is also good to know that it is a felony to remove emission devices. FYI

There are some instructions that have been posted on here before about making an O2 sim with parts from Radio Shack. IIRC it was less than $10 worth of parts.

What goat said and where this guy lives it is NOT a felony, or even wrong to remove the cat.

Thanks for the link, though it does confuse me a bit, in the link in the link it says you won't use the O2 anymore and the guy that posted says he is useing it?

I know that you have to use the o2 or it will though a code. So i am woundering exactly what wires i am supposed to splice into? i might need to PM that guy.

Yeah Jason did it a little different than that link. Something about not wanting to bypass the heater circuit, read the info closely. The heater circuit takes a lot of amps (dangerious).

I've actually owned several. Bikes, too. Majority of the people that ran catless were track-only people, which wasn't a "large percentage". But I did see a high correlation between catless street cars and ricers/posers.
