Talking She’s ALIVE!!!! Tons of Pictures!

From start to finish, here we go!

Four months ago I bought my 4Runner from a nice old lady from Tennessee named Floy Grooms. One month after I bought my new baby I took her swimming and killed the engine. Today, all my blood sweat and tears have come to an end! (Hopefully) I got to drive her home for the first time in two months.

Here’s my whole story with pictures and all…

The old engine on its way out.

The old engine out.

The hole in my old engine.

The old engine with the oil pan off revealing the damage.

Another shot with the windage tray off revealing more damage.

My new engine being put together.

My new engine ready to go in.

The new engine in.

I figured since I did all this work I should treat myself to something nice. So I bought a 4' Pro Comp Suspension lift.

Someone had dropped a screw in my new engine and it had to be rebuilt. You can imagine how I felt. I needed a break so my buddy and I started on the lift.

The rear lift.

The tires where a royal pain to get off. We had to use a high lift jack and a board to get them off.

Here is a pick of the stock springs and the new Pro Comp springs.

My rear end almost completely disassembled.

I chose to go with the Rancho RS9000x adjustable shocks instead of the Pro Comp 3000 something because I wanted to be able to adjust the ride.

The new engine coming out.

While the new engine was being rebuilt I decided to put on the front lift. Unfortunelty, I had to send my laptop in for some repair work and it was lost by Fed Ex. I didn't bother to take any pictures of the install because my memory card for my camera was full.

Wow, what a story. It's a good thing you finally got her going again. Did you have to put the new engine in again or did they do it?

Looks good. Now it's time to get some wheels and tires.

Now that's a lot of work right there. Thanks for all the pics.

Same 3.0. My fiance has a BMW for speed. I'd rather spend my $$ on off-road stuff. Next Month I'll be getting new tires gears and a rear locker. Just looking at all that now makes me sore and want to take a nap.

I had to do it, someone dropped a washer in my engine so it wasn't covered under warranty. :pat:

So there was a screw in there from when you got the engine and then someone dropped a washer in there? Was this their screw up? Did you have to pay for the rebuild?

I hope not.

I had to pay for the rebuild.

I haven't noticed anything with the rear driveshaft yet. I greased it up pretty well. I also haven't driven it much yet. I can't go above 50 for the first 500 miles too.

Today I get to find out where the antifreeze is leaking. D'OH! :pat:

New pics.

Here are some pics of my truck gettin some sun.
You can see that she still needs some work in the front. I had a leak this morning but I fixed it with two clips. Other than that, she is running great. I've already put 100 miles on her! My rear is leaking a little too. I'm getting that replaced in about a month. This weekend I'll get some pics up of some off road action. Later!

?

I have a question too. In the process of putting my new engine in my AC condensor busted. I bought a new one and installed it. Has anyone ever re-charged their own AC? If so, how can I do it myself? What do I need and where is the best place to go?

Has it been converted to R134? IF it is still using freon you will either need to have someone recharge it for you or get it switched over. You can recharge R134 yourself.

BTW looks great!
