[QUOTE=Weedo] VERY un-Toyota-like.
QUOTE]

but not un-TRD-like . . . seems like this is becoming standard. at least they're changing out the ECU, unlike the 3.4 header Y-pipe fix which actually costs the customer $260 on top of the $1K they already spent, or the 3.4 s/c fix, AKA 7th injector kit, which costs $1300 . . .

You shouldn't have any hesitation of the engine. Biff can comment on this, he seems to be happy with his SC.

Have you checked the installation for any intake leaks, vacuum hoses, leaky gasket, etc? Maybe it is sucking in air or leaking it without the MAF sensor knowing, so your ECU is flashed fine, but nnot getting the right info.

TRD called me the next morning after emailing them with my problem. They listened to my explanation and sent me a new ECU Fed Ex overnight priority. Bob over there really helped me out as he talked me thru a complete check of the electronics and vacuum hoses, installed the new ECU. He spent well over an hour on the phone with me and even listened in on speaker phone as I took it for a spin.
The intial run was good, the hesitation and bogging, slow shifts, and surging where gone. The truck ran smoother, pulled harder and quicker thru each gear. I was pretty sure it was faster. The real test would be to run Weedo's 2wd V8.
Well we ran a few times and I pulled him on every run, even with a bad start. Approx 2 car lengths 0-60mph, which is a big difference.
I am extremely happy with the outcome of this problem. Bob provided me with excellent customer service and really helped me solve this issue. I can now say I am happy to have spent the $5k for the SC. And I appreciate TRD backing me up.
Remember folks all/4wd drive trains dont eat 118hp, maybe some of it but not all of it, if that was true, and I took off the SC, then my rig would only have 135hp, electronics are everything.
By the way I am going to have it dyno'd any way, just to see whats up with the HP put to the ground. I will post the results of that test.
Hats off to TRD,,, WRX, Mustang GT's beware..................

Todd smoked me GOOD as he should be!! I think we were even up til about 10mph then he just started walking me, hard. We didn't get to run much past about 65mph, but he was a good 2 cars ahead, and pulling faster as our speed gained. I actually looked down to make sure my A/C was off and that my floor mat wasn't squished under my pedal!!

We'll head to the 1/4 mile track soon just for fun, but I'm guessing he'll pull me by 5 car lenghts or so. That should equate to a gain of 60hp over my 2 wheel drive PLUS the loss of his all-wheel drive and higher weight. This should add up to a good 75-80hp (rear or all-wheel) advantage, thus the 118hp "crank" claim seems pretty good.

I'm just happy it was the ECU which is exactly what I thought when we first made our runs. His truck RIPS now!
