your air/fuel ratio sensor is NOT your MAF sensor. The a/f sensor is basically the same thing as an o2 sensor. Make sure its an a/f sensor amd not an o2 sensor that you buy

the po446 could be from a loose gas cap, bad evap canister/vsv's. Get the truck running right and then go after the evap code

check all your hoses. I bet you there's a vacuum leak. At WOT, the intake head is at atmospheric pressure and thus there's no issues. As soon as you're in part throttle or idling and if there's a vacuum leak, you'll experience inconsistent idle and power loss.

CEL started again this week I cleared it once with little to no issues but it came back and the car is now running sporadically again.

I normally have no trouble starting the car for work and driving an hour, after I stop and restart the Idle is not always constant. and sometime feels like there is no power, If I "punch it" with the gas it is back to normal.

All the problems went completely away and my 4runner had never been running better since the last post. not sure whats changed just yet. I welcome your thoughts and will start re-reading the posts :-)

Here are the latest codes as of 4-25-08

P1133 (Air / fuel Ratio sensor)
p0446 (evap vent control)

I replaced the MAF sensor about a month ago, could the 2 code suggest a problem with removing the elbow from the Filter box and Silencer from the intake?

i have taken pictures and will post tonight.

thanks all

Howdy all:
I had to drive the truck out of town for the weekend. It was almost all freeway so I didn't really see the problem.

I will start to check the hoses. I have used a small diameter hose with one end to my ear before listening for hissing noises or any other louder than ??ambient engine noise??? ,does that make sense? https://www.yotatech.com/forums/imag...lies/dunno.gif

well I will start reading and doing some searches on diagnosing the vacuum possibility

Also I changed one of the O2 sensors about 6 months ago. it was the one just before the Cat,

I have really got a lot out of the site, Ive really enjoyed working on my 4runner more. I started more out of need than want but "want" is catching up. :-)

I actually became a contributing member today, No more lurking for me :-)

Thanks to the community! and the Mods.

If you still have the p1133 code, you didnt put the right sensor in or its bad again. You need the #1 A/F sensor, not an o2 sensor

If you are looking for a vacuum leak, take a can of carb or brake cleaner and start spraying around the intake, or any vacuum lines/hoses. If there is a leak and it sucks that cleaner in, you will see your idle increase for a second or two.

as Toytech76 Said I pulled the bank 1 sensor It was indeed a 49 state Denso 234-4162 When I need the CA A/F sensor
Listed at Underdog Racing development ( www.URDUSA.com ) as Denso 234-9002. $192 shipped overnight.

Seems odd that even though my car has been running a lil rough it still passed smog with no problem. :-)

Should have today. :-)
