I just installed the 3 inch lift from Revtek, looks great. But, I am curious to those of you out there that have this lift, is it supposed to make some "clunking" noises up front? I can feel it in my feet a little...and I'm wondering if it just needs to "settle in" to stop it? I did the install exactly to instructions, but it is a little noisy. Is this normal? Everything is tight, I have checked and re-checked everything! Please, any input appreciated

When exactly does it "clunk"? Over bumps? Coming to a stop?

I had the Revtek for about 2 years and can't say I ever heard a clunking noise (at least that I associated with the lift)

Does it seem to come more from the drivers side? Is it when the tire goes up over the bump or back down over a bump?

I know that when you put the spacer lift in you basically lose that 2-3" of downtravel that you gain in lift. Which basically means there isn't much downtravel left when you hit a bump. I would really notice it when going over speedbumps. Hitting the bump was fine but when the tires dropped back down off of the bump-a sort of "clunk" would happen when the suspension reached it's full droop. However, when you say the"smallest" bumps, I'm not sure what that means so this may not be the case at all. When you jack up the front end from under the front diff, how much can you jack it up before the front tires come off the ground? If it isn't much at all then you are basically driving at full droop - which doesn't leave much dpwntravel for when you hit a pot hole or something. This usually make for a bit "stiffer" ride and not necessarily a "clunk".

doesnt sound good. you make sure everything is bolted back up tightly?

Well, I went out and checked again, and yes, everything is tight. It makes the noise over ANY bump, and I mean anything. Even a manhole cover makes it do it. Both sides seem to have the same sound....so I"m wondering if I didn't put the spacer in right? If that is even possible?

Did it come with the diff drop kit?

I haven't done this kit, but email or PM me and maybe we can hook up to take a look at it.

Ok, yes I am a moron. When I read "discard rubber spacer", I kind of took that to be the round rubber spacer on the top of the whole assembly. DO NOT DO THIS!! You need this, as it provides much more pressure for the entire assembly.

Problem solved.

i have the same lift sitting in my office waiting for me to get off my a$$ and install it. did it even out your truck, or is one end higher than the other. also, how are your cv angles after the install? i have the same year 4runner and i am kind of worried about the boots.

Monkeynuts ~ worked out pretty dang even. I am very pleased with the outcome. The 285's really make the big difference overall....the angles are a bit severe, but I"m not too worried about it, IF they do go out, they don't look to hard to change. From what I've read, I haven't found anyone to have problems with them, so I'm sure it'll be ok.
