Reverse Indiglos on Ebay???

Okay I know some of you guys have bought indiglo and reverse indi's off Ebay. Well these are the only ones that I can find on Ebay right now. I would really love to be able to get on the Speehut band wagon but us 96-98 guys can't so we must look other places. So the ones I found on Ebay seem to have lights and slots that I don't have, the the PRND on the guage face, I don't have that on mine and these do. In fact I don't even think that any 96-98 gauges have the PRND on the face plate(correct me if I'm wrong). How the heck can I find some reverse indi's for my truck if they are all going to be rip-offs that don't work or don't match my set-up. Can anyone help me out here. Any suggestions are game at this point.

Here is a link to the gauges that I found on Ebay. Let me know what you think about these?Ebay Reverse Gauges

I'm sure you guys are sick of me harping on NR Auto, but they truly do suck.

Stump, also be aware that NR's kit is not indiglo. Only the number illuminate. If that's what you're looking for, you're in luck.

Most importantly, NR's kits are a *replacement* for the gauge plates. This means you have to remove the needles and replace the old plates w/ the NR plates. What does this mean? You have to have the needles recalibrated. Back in the days, it was about $120 to have them recalibrated---not including the installation AND I had to bring the cluster in. A problem if you are doing this by yourself and your 4runner is your only vehicle.

The indiglo overlays you see on ebay slip over the existing plates. Much cheaper too and easier to install.

Email me more if you have any preguntas, senor.

Bob

Hey Bob, that's good to know. I don't recall reading too much about them so that input is always appreciated!

What's with the little silver tool that comes with the kit by the way?

Thanks

That tool pops your needle off. You don't really wanna do that. If I'm not mistaken, 1996 is the 'oddball' year for gauge faces. '97-'98 looks the same...I think. I remember someone saying that long ago.

Well damn if that just doesn't suck the big one. How the heck am I supposed to get some reverse indi's if I have the one odd ball 3rd gen gauge se-up. Thi sreally sucks if I'm going to get screwed out of reverse indi's b/c of that fact. I know alot of your guys surf Ebay regularly, so if you happen to run across a reverse indiglo gauge kit that doesn't have the PRND on the faces let me know and I will be all over it. Thanks.

Stump, I believe the ones on ebay DO NOT require you to take your needles off and that is a good thing. I bought a set off of ebay for my 1992 and I did not have to take the needles off. They were real easy to do. Joey did a write up in the tech section, so check that out to see how easily it is done. I am assuming it would be the same way for a 1996. I would go with the ones on ebay. I really like mine and get compliments all the time. Very cool. :fireman:

I know BTOWN4RUNNER but what am I supposed to do about the PRND on the stupid gauges. I'm thinking of seeing if there is an entire gauge replacement from a 97 or 98 that I could get from one of the junk yards or something. I really want those guages but I can't get past the PRND section not being there on mine, how bad do you think it would look to have them there and not be functional at all???

PRND????

Yeah, Im debating if I should get the gauges or not , I would love to get the gauges but the PRND is there, and I dont have those on mine. How do you exactly install the gauges w/o removing the needles, there's one hole in the gauges and needle is pretty long?

Well let me know what your doing, if you decide to go with those guages. Then I would not fee like the only guy running around that way, lol. Thanks man.

I'm not really sure either of how they go on but I have some firends that have the over lay gauges on their rice burners that they did, so I could get one of them to show me.

so those guages just go over the old ones? Is there going to be a problem if I put US version gauges on to CDN gauges?

What happens is that you slip the gauges over the needles and onto the face of the stock gauges. The power for the reverse indi gauges comes from the stock power, so the stock ones still work. You will still see the PRN...it will just not be in reverse indi, it will be just like it is now. I mean other than that, you will have to get the custom ones. Goodluck! :fireman:

Maybe you can put a cool TRD sticker over the top of that part? I have seen a couple of other guys do this with pretty good results.

It 'looks' like the tach face without the PRND12 is the same as my '99. Just a plain tach face. The only difference is my speedo has only one odo/trip slot...not two like the earlier ones. Maybe Speedhut will sell just the tach to you oddballs? :alien:

Yeah I think I'm gona go for it. Who cares, I'll just find a way to maybe cover it up(maybe w/ a TRD badge of something, thanks Beiowulf). I just really want these gauges and only my closest buds will know that I'm missing those lights, no one esle will even notice it.
