retrofit AC

I have a good junkyard up by my house and they got all the parts for an ac system for my 82 pickup. how hard would it be to install this and what drawbacks are there? I know i would loose some power but if i switch to an electric fan that may help. I am going camping in August over in Eastern Washington and that drive will be really hot.

Thanks guys

Pretty hard. But, it could be done. You'd have to remove all the components and then you'd be leaking that nice expensive R-12 into the atmosphere. Then install it back into yours and evacuate the air out of the system and recharge it with R-134. If the compressor is still good.

Everett, WA huh? Can't be as hot up there as it gets down here. Just do your driving in the mornings, like I used to do. It builds character. Then you can poke fun at all of us candya$$ed guys that love our AC.

When i drive out to my dads, 2 hour drive, on hot days it gets really hot in the cab.

Yes, it's hot down here. But it's been pretty nice lately...just recently hit 100 here in El Paso.

But it's a DRY heat. Ain't nuthin' like East Texas...I gotta feel sorry for them folks.
