Exclamation removing door panels

i haven't really looked but how do you remove the door panels from a 88 toyota 4runner. i have power windows and locks. i don't see any screws around the door latch handle or the arm rest area. i'm assuming i just need to wedge a flat head screw driver at a bottom corner and slowly "pop" the door panel off.

i need to fix a window rail issue i'm having...

I can only help you with my 2nd gen's door removal so it may or may not help you.

The first step was to pop the power control console off of the arm rest. The front edge is pried up and once it is out of its mounting bracket, you pull it forward and then the only thing holding it on is the clip on wire harnesses. Unplug and place power consol in safe place.

Next, underneath the arm rest there should be two round caps. These cover deeeep holes in the bottom of the arm rest. At the bottom/top (depending how you look at it) of those holes there is a pretty good sized #2 phillips head screw. Unscrew both and remove screws to safe place.

Next, the doorhandle should have a single retaining screw. Remove and place in safe place. Push whole inner door handle assembly forward parallel to the door, then gently pull away. The door release bar should be retained by a little plastic retaining clip. Unclip and pull out of inner door handle.

Next remove the goofy plasic retaining push button you can see on the inside of the door. (It has a philips head opening on it...) OR you can just start popping off the door panel.

The whole panel is held on by push buttons (dont know actual term) and are easily popped out of door. Work from the bottom up. When all of them are out, lift the door panel up and away from the door. It should come right off...

reverse order for assembly.
