Who by the way love the label (made in america), for the maximum amount of money. With any slogan that they can come up with that says their stuff is the best. I love toyota stuff but there is a major difference in japan stuff and american made toyotas. Which is part of the reason I sold my tacoma dbl cab for a 4runner. Side by side you can look and you will find the quality difference between them.

Sorry for the venting
uhh I bought a tacoma after coming to this site and looking around. more people complain about 4runner issues than taco issues.. granted there maybe more people with 4 runners but it seems like you guys who have 4 runners have more "issues" than us taco owners..... this is speculation only. of course i could be wrong. at 110k miles i have never had an engine light come or nothing!

The reason for that is 2-fold:

1: 4runner have all that inside space, and that is what a lot of the questions are about. Thing that people break off or whatever.

2: There are more 4runner owners on here then Tacos, seems like a lot of the taco owners go to customtacos.com

But really, I think both America and Japan made trucks have there own problems. The america made cars are made by Union people, which are lazy good for nothing people that want to get ppaid a lot for doing nothing (i know a guy that gets paid $45 an hour just to put doors on cars!!! not even hard work!).

I just got off the phone with Jim Barkley Toyota here in Asheville, NC.

They said that have only taken back three Tacos so far and that it has to be "perforation" and not "surface" rust. Like you have to be able to press into the frame and the like.

I'm going to check mine over really good but I think I'm in good shape.

yeah check it over very well bc you guys get more salt up there than we do to an extent. check the places where salt can go and you cant wash it off easily.. i have surface rust on mine in a few spots. it was like that when i bought it at 50k miles too.. surface rust will eventually turn into crippling rust.

i was talking more about the 4-runner sag, the radiator/ tranny issue, fuel gauge issue and etc.. now again i could be wrong so excuse me if i am. it was just one of the deciding factors for me to buy a 4 door taco instead of a 4runner..

i couldnt agree with you more about Union laborers.. i worked for a union and all i saw was lazy ass people. Unions breed laziness.. its sad..i was one of the hardest working guys in my shift and the next guy next to me got paid the same as me but did half of what i did.. hell i even had to help him so he wouldnt get too far behind.. in the real world they would have canned his ass.... f'ing unions!!!!. if i were the american companies i would do my best to ditch the union! we really dont need them anymore anyway..

Haha come on people we're all on the same team here! We all love our Toyotas for different reasons.

And about the whole union thing. To each his own. I worked (non-union) electrical for almost two years, I had to drive through union picketers a couple times and thought it was pretty silly and pointless. As with most things, it was something created for good but has slowly been corrupted.
