Rear seat stuck

Somehow the backseat will not fold down on the passenger side. I don't think that I put anything under it for it to stick. Pulling on the strap, there is no give, but pulling on the sides there is give. I don't want to break something. Has anyone had this problem that knows of an easy fix. Next I am removing the bolts from the seat (behind seated passenger heals) to get it fixed.

Is the seat butt not folding up/forward, or is the seat back not folding down? If the seat butt is not folding up/forward, then read on. If its' the seatback, sorry, can't help ya.

On my 96, the strap is used to release a "latch" type thing. If the strap isn't fed correctly through the latch, it doesn't work. I had it happen to me once a while back, so I know what you're talking about. Unfortunately, it's been a while since I looked that closely at it. Take a look at the driver's side seat. I think the strap goes through a nylon loop. I bet the strap came out of that loop and that's why it's not working. I'm at work so I can't look at my rig and explain it to you (sorry). Look closely at the driver's side and see if you can figure out how it works. Then do it manually on the passenger side to get the seat up.

I've had a similar problem with my '98. It's all in how I pull on the strap on the seat. If I pull the strap to the side instead of up/forward, the seat does not always unlatch. Whatever you do, don't force the seat. Take a look at the working one and see how the latch works. Slip your hand down to unlatch it by hand if you have to.
