Rear seat stuck...

Our '98 Runner came back from the car wash a couple of weeks ago with the rear seat stuck-they will not fold up against the fronts so the seatback can be lowered for cargo space. Any ideas?

im not saying this is what you should do, but mine was like this months ago too... and i just pulled REALLY HARD on the strap and it finally gave.

something was making it stick, i dont know what, but it hasnt happened since and functions just fine.

I agree with lee. This happened to my '99 4R as well. I think the problem was one of the seat belt buckles was positioned beneath the seat so that it wouldn't allow the seat to go down fully. I just yanked the hell outta the strap and it eventually popped free.

Pull the strap up and forward the driver's seat. It will give up.
