Rear Brake sticking / locking / seizing
I started to experience the rear brakes sticking on my '99 Limited.
The cable was in good shape so off to my mechanic I went. There is a lever mechanism on the backing plate which controls the parking brake. My mechanic told me the this part had rusted internally and seized.
I started seeing dollar signs. I'm thinking "dealer only part, $500 each side."
My mechanic (who is a real mechanic, not just a parts replacer) told me he could take the part off the backing plate, hone them out, lubricate them and they'de be good as new. Total price: $220.
I wonder what the dealer would have done?

He would've looked at the thread that was just covered and find the parts are no where near either of those amounts.
On mine, only one side was seized and IIRC it was about 50 bucks for the parts. 2 bolts to take it on and off.
