Gonna do some maintenance on the 1998 Tacoma 2.7 and was wondering what you guys recommended for spark plugs? I've heard good things about NGK Iridium IX's? Any Truth to this?

Also, I think my plug wires are original. Would it be worth replacing them? Even the cheapo set of wires are 40 bucks.

Most people including myself consider NGK the best sparkplug marker bar none. As far as the iridium I don't think you going to notice any difference over the stock dual electrode NGKs that Toyota installs.

Just remember one thing when it comes to care and feeding of the spark plugs on a Yota or any other aluminum headed creature. Use ANTI-SEIZE !!!

Will be sure to run the anti-seize. I do it on all my engines, aluminum or not

I had the IX's in a Legend which originally had "Laser Platnium". The platnium were 2x more than the IX's. I didn't notice any difference. The IX's are good plugs.

i run oem plugs and ngk wires only use ngk or denso nothing else

I was just thinking about the subject of anti-sieze this morning while changing the plugs and wire in my 1997 3.4, factory wires and Toyota/Denso plugs for what it's worth, and I thought about dissimilar metal corrosion. When working on firearms they say not to use anti-sieze when threading steel to aluminum because it will cause corrosion on the threads. Ever since I changed my first set of plugs twenty years I have used anit-sieze.
