Thanks for all the help......

If I can't figure this out does anyone want a Tacoma for $4000.?
1) Yes, may take a few minutes (10-15).

2) See here: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1996/SIL/...e/cip0300p.pdf

Quote from link above:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Misfire: The ECM uses the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor to monitor changes in
the crankshaft rotation for each cylinder. The ECM counts the number of times the engine speed change
rate indicates that misfire has occurred. When the misfire rate equals or exceeds the count indicating that
the engine condition has deteriorated, the MIL lights up.
If the misfire rate is high enough and the driving conditions will cause catalyst overheating, the MIL blinks
when misfiring occurs.
More FSMs: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html

3) Possible, but you will probably need a scanner to tell that (open loop). How about $2000?

The truck is now sold, and the guy who bought it was a Toyota mechanic at a local shop. The crank pulley wasn't wobbling, and we both thought that if a loose crank bolt was the problem the misfire would be on more than one cylinder.

Once the new owner got the truck to the shop he started to take it apart, and the problem was a loose crank pulley!....actually the pulley was on there pretty good but at one point had loosened up and caused the crank signal gear(?) to shift and it locked in such a position that it would only misfire on the one cylinder.

Just figured this might help someone else.

I have a couple things for sale here:
