SC4runner...yes I am the guy who spoke to you a few months ago about doing this.. and yeah Im from Oahu...I know it is a local thing, if I lived in the mainland sure my runner would have 35x12.5 or some thing...but thats the crazy thing about our local style....we make our trucks out here look like some thing that you would have to scratch your head and say...huh!...thats the whole fun about it....some thing out of the norm...

I've seen a million pictures of these things, and I still don't get it.

To each his own.

i think a lot of the way hawaii people lift trucks is inspired by the way monster trucks look, big and high with tires sticking out. we can't drive monster trucks on the street so modding trucks to look like em is the next best thing. that's just my opinion. there are guys that do things like you guys do in the mainland and there are guys that go big and functional but the most prominent is the stretched look. here's a pic of some articulation...hawaiian style. i know, not a Toy but pretty crazy if you ask me. it has 4 wheel steering too. make what you wish out of it.

He means that every 4Runner that resides in Hawaii that has had pictures posted on here looks the same. They remind me of offroad skateboards...? Like someone else said, "To each his own". I agree with that to a certain extent. To each his own until something that was once functional has been turned into something that is less functional than stock. We drive on beaches and stuff over here... there are also mud rigs... but I doubt you'll ever see a 2" wide tire stretched on a 15" wide rim (obviously an exaggeration, but shows the point nonetheless).

Though I can't stand Ford vehicles... That truck is pretty awesome. That to me is a very functional rig. I would just be concerned about the stability and durabilty.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd slap some 35x12.50's on it. Tires are a lil too small and wide for my taste.

Yes I do believe "to each his own," I made the comment about the roller skates, but that's just my own opinion. I would prefer a taller and wider tire to fill in the gaps of the wheel well after the lift. If he likes it like that and it's enough for his purposes then so be it. I'm awestruck by the Icelandic rigs that have been shown on here... check out gummy's profile.
