Here's a good filter that could be used for a catch can, I am thinking about installing one on my Tacoma: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...&issearch=4014

Looks a little on the big side to me, but yeah it would do a good job if you can find the space for it.

I agree with mt goat, but for 25 bucks it won't really hurt anything. Maybe you can find an alternate mounting point for it and do a write up for the write up section. I'm personally happy with mine as the catch can just lays out of the way and is very easily accessable.

I've looked on the diagram and the only thing I can figure out is the hose coming from the air intake? From the description it's there to draw in fresh air to aid in the vacuum.

See if there is a hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake (in front of the throttle body somewhere)

Anyone every try one of the Condensators, they are $180, but they have some special filter meadian in them, actually one of the guy's I work with has one on his Jeep, and he's said he's noticed a huge gain in MPG.

My co-worker was telling me about this yesterday, and since it's related I thought I would ask about it. I know it's a waste of money, and I know I could build something just like it myself for next to nothing.

I'm gonna go on an off topic on my own topic here: Europe has been reporting cars up to 70 mpgs on their cars. I believe in last month's issue of Popular Mechanics it says that in order to get better gas mileage in a vehicle is to reduce vehicle weight, improve driveline efficiency (power from motor to tranny to the drive wheels at a much higher efficiency percentage), and decrease wind resistance. Have you seen the cars that they drive that gets good gas mileage? It's pretty much a clown car! Do I see myself driving a clown car and doing some rockcrawling or towing a trailor? Nope, I chose my gas hog and will have to pay for it as we all do. If I really wanted better gas mileage I'd be better off riding as I've said a million times before. Back on topic.... I fixed my gas mileage problem since it was an O2 sensor going bad, but I just recently put on my catch can just to keep the combustion chamber cleaner. I have not recorded any more/less mpgs but the same. Next will be an electric fan and I don't even know if that will gain me more mpg since eletricity count's as work on engine load. *search and you'll know what I mean*

Edit: Popular Mechanics did NOT mention driveline efficiency as a way to improve gas mileage, I just remembered it from an mechanical engineer that spoke to my GM Auto tech class.

I put one on the rear, and so far haven't gotten a drop of oil in it.

Catch can's... Is it necissary to remove the filter's in these do to the pcv vacuum? I noticed iron mike left his in (it looks that way to my in the pic) and mt goat took his out... How much decrease in psi's is needed to effect the motor?

I should've clarified it, but that's not a filter. It' just a section of tubing to allow the oil to drain downwards first instead of the oil being sucked right next to the exit hole from the entrance hole.
