Hello out there!

Do any of you fellow 4Runner owners ever get those "everyday" lower back problems. (Like millions of other Americans) If so, does the stiff 4Runner ride aggravate them?

I'm a new buyer, and got a sore back after my first 4Runner drive. But I also got one a long time ago when I drove a Ford Expedition, so it may all be coincidental.

I'm still curious to know what you all think. I'd hate to have a recurring lower back problem to keep me from enjoying this great truck.

Any solutions or ideas are much appreciated.

hmm..you may have to adjust the seat..but i have my seat wher eonly my lower back is resting on the seat..anything mid back and up doesn't touch the seat...but i use to get lower back pains in my accord no matter how i adjust it..but now it rarely happens...hope things work out for you...

I just took my new truck to Charleston SC and I noticed that about 3.5 hrs in my lower back was a little tender. I have pretty bad lower back problems. I adjusted the seat and made sure that I sat flat against it there was not as much pressure on my lower back. Maybe you are sitting too far from the steering wheel. The botton line is that my VW had unbelievably comfie seats an I think the toyota design is simply not as good as the german one. My girl has a Honda and those seats make me stiffen up as well. Try out the chevy tahoe, now those are nice seats.

why don't you just take the back of your seat off and get some big thick gold rope chains, some ground effects and some 24" wheels and just hold yourself up using the left hand on the steering wheel. that's how the bling-bling homies do it here in Houston. I guess they don't have backaches, well, at least "yet."

This may sound a little "Hokey", but whenever you will be in your rig for a few hours of driving, take your wallet out of your back pocket and put it in the console. Make sure everything is set-up so you are as comfortable as you can be. Mirrors can be used just by turning your head etc. It's something that works for me.....

i have noticed that too about the wallet. I have also noticed that my outer thighs and butt muscles start to ache or cramp after a while with the high sides of the sport bucket seats pressing in on the outer thighs. I usually have to turn that know on the seat to angle the seat cushion forward so I am sitting more upright and things get better. this is only during long 4+ hour trips.

I agree with the wallet idea too...

But if you are like me my wallet has everything in it.

I don't understand why society let women carry suck big wallets and not us men. I mean we have important stuff just like women have....

Now how am I gonna fit all the stuff out of my wallet and into my front pocket.........??????????????

About the wallet thing, you just need to start putting more mods on your ride, that'll lighten your wallet up pretty quickly, and no more backpain!

the wallet thing.........I only carry my drivers license and a atm/debt card. Anything else can go into a door pocket of center console compartment.

Sitting on a thick wallet will throw your hip up on one side, causing lower back pain from pushing on a back nerve.

More upright position will help. If your seat has lumbar and you adjust it to where you can feel it pushing - that's too much. Back it off a bit. I fit people for ergonomic office chairs all day...

About the wallet. I got into the habit years ago of carrying my wallet in my front pocket - not one of those big honking George Costanza wallets, but one that has a clip for bills a few slots for cards. I spent quite a few working years in NYC and Chicago and was a bit paranoid of getting ripped off. Now I like to travel light. If I need stuff other than my usual carried, I just hand it to the Mrs. to shove in her purse.
