oxygen sensor

ok this is weird, i have an 88 toyota 4runner with the oxygen sensor in the pipe right before the cat, i also had an 87 4runner and it had more of a header on it then regular exhaust. (2 pipes from manifold down under truck ) with the oxygen sensor in the manifold,so i thought i would use the header lookin pipe on the 88,(freeer exhaust flow ) the problem was would the wire goin thru the floor reach the manifold, well to make a long story short, now my truck runs like it has a lot more power,(i forgot to plug the ox sensor back in) whats the dealio? oh yeah its a 22re i believe its stock.
