Oil light and ebrake light stay on when key is out of ignition.

Today as I walked up to my runner as it sat over night, I noticed some dash llights were on. As I opened the door I saw the oil and ebrake light on. I quickly checked the oil, but didn't check the brake fluid. However, I started her up and the lights went away, but once I park and shut off the engine and remove the keys the lights come on again.

I disconnected the battery to see if whatever it was would reset, and it's still the same. Anyone have any suggestions? Alternator? I had a cd player installed recently.

You're turning the key all the way off right? If this only started after the radio install, I'd say start there first - the radio might be back-feeding voltage into the "run" circuit on your rig. Disconnect the radio and see what happens

corax is right however I did not see you installed a radio. to me it sounds like a short some where. power getting to the ignition from some where or a bad ignition switch shorting out inside. If you are at a loss for what the issue is then find the ignition switch and see if there is power where it shouldn't be will need a diagram.

Yes, that makes sense. Since when the truck is running there are no error lights on but the minute I shut the engine and turn the ignition off the lights are on. I purchased the radio and it was installed by the shop I bought it from so I'll take it back to them and let them figure it out. Thanks for the help guys!

I found the culprit, as it turns out it was a faulty accessory relay switch that seemed to be jammed open. It was raining Sunday and I had the wipers on and when I shut off the car I left the wipers on. This seemed to have somehow jammed the relay which is probably faulty anyway. Not only were the error lights on but the ac would work and the wipers without the key even being in the ignition. It fixed itself as I was taking the bottom of the dash apart to test the ignition wires and accidently hit the wipers on. After doing this the lights disapeared and the ac/heat and wipers didn't work without the key being in the ignition as it should. Problem fixed.
