Odometer cable install ('97 Tacoma)

As the temp is dipping my odometer cable is making noise behind the dash again. From reading other posts it is better to replace the cable than try to lube it. Has anyone done this and would you have any install tips/shortcuts for me? Any help would be great.

Thanks- Billy

replacing it doesnt always mean you get a quiet one. i didnt realize people thought it was easier to replace it than to lube it. im pretty good at greasing it and then fishing it back thru the cable housing without trying to tear everything apart.
