o/d feature and ECT

Ok, I am a new runner owner. I am getting bad mileage...like 12.5 to the gallon. I am wondering what is more fuel efficient to run the truck with the O/D feature on or off as well as the ECT power button that is on the dash.

Thanks!

ECT PWR = gears carried out longer, better for towing or when u need more power, but bad for gas mileage.. turn it off and it shifts shorter

O/D = overdrive; locks the 2 ends of the torque converter... turn off if youre towing something, or going up a steep hill and the engine is constantly downshifting... leave on if youre normally driving and want good mileage
