newbie questions 95.5 tacoma tires supercharger general differences
I just bought a 95.5 tacoma (not too bad of a price at $3600 but kinda beat up outside) and really didn't research anything before I bought it. It is a 4x4 ext cab lx with the 3.4 and auto transmission. It has 214K miles but it runs good and everything seems to work. I did a couple of searches and didn't find much information but I'm not that great at searching.
Is the engine non interference or interference? I'm guessing non, but there was lots of debate about that.
Any major differences in the suspension other than the short rear leafs?
Supercharger-what is the real reason it doesn't work for 95.5-96? Are there problems with the '95.5 ecu? Or is it that the eco for the '95.5 and '96 are different than the 97+? Or is it something else?
What are the biggest tires I can run on the stock wheels w/o a lift?
What gears would I have? 3.4 v6 with auto tranny.
What is the max tire size? I read 31". I'm going to stick with a small near stock tire size for now though.
I plan on getting an arb rear locker and some new bfg ats and those will be the only mods for now.
I guess that is all I can think of right now. Thanks

Thanks for clearing up the confusion on the engine.
Suspension compared to other gen 4 or gen 7 trucks. I read that the 95.5 and 96 got short rear leafs.
I was thinking of looking for some decent used wheel/tire take offs. What toyota trucks can I pull the wheels off of and have fit-match offset and bolt pattern? I'm going to do a search on that right now but what is the bolt pattern stock offset or backspace and wheel size? Will a 15" wheel work or do they have to be 16"?
Right now I'm not sure what the truck has. They are generic 1/2 tread mud tires and are probably 27-29 or something on some aftermarket wheels. I need/want something a little more freeway friendly yet has decent traction AT tire like the BFG AT or the Bridgestone REVO. I figure the locker on the rear may make up some for the loss of tire.

Here is another couple questions.
ARB offers a locker for the rear of a 98+ tacoma part # RD89. What is the differences between a 95.5 96 97 and the 98 and later? Don't they all have 8" rear differentials? Same thing for the front locker rd90. Aren't all 7.5 front ifs axles the same from 95.5 to 2004?
The OME old man emu suspension is also only available for the 98-04. So what happened to the 95.5-97?
I was thinking about the OME881 front springs, n91s shocks, n85 rear shocks, and CS046RA/B rear springs but they list that for only 98+...

It is a 6x5.5 lug pattern you need for that truck. As far as the wheels go, you may have to shave a bit off your rim to clear your brake calipers if you want 15" rims.

the suspension thing is just the rear leaves. you would have to relocate the spring perches which is a pain. the front is the same 95-04. if you look for just the front lifts thats what they all say but a full kit for a 95-97 is hard to find because of the rear springs.

So are the springs the same as the 94 and earlier?
About the tires I bought the truck and all but won't pick it up until this weekend. I was looking at tirerack and they say that 15" wheels were standard equipment and that 16" weren't an option until later...
ie
95-96 tacoma 4x4 ext cab
225/75/15
31x10.5-15
97-00 tacoma 4x4 ext cab
225/75/15
265/75/15
31x10.5-15
01-04 tacoma 4x4 ext cab
225/75/15
265/70/16

The truck now has aftermarket? 15 x ? wheels with 235x75x15 tires. I wonder since the calipers came shaved if they needed to get reshaved?
On another note I'm somewhat disappointed that the truck only has 3.91 gears and the 2 pinion rear axle(B06A/A340F). I may stick with the current tires until I can afford the regear and rear locker all at once.
