New "Used" 4Runner Owner *Pic Incl*
I finally did it, after alot of searching and a bit of procrastination. It's a 2001 4Runner SR5 4x4 with 34,000 miles. I got lucky, it even had an electric rear locker installed. Thanks to all who helped out with answering my posts. Here's a pic of it from the dealer's website:

2001 w/a rear locker is wicked. I think factory E-Lockers ended in '99, so they must have added it themselves right (I could be wrong, correct me if so pls)? Did they install a Toy electric one, an ARB or something else? Just curious.
Either way, nice ride man.

EDIT: ARB's are air & I now see you said electric so for all intensive purposes I will assume Toyota E-Locker.

btw- my '00 has a factory locker..and it came that way OEM
..now the lift, sc, tires, audio/vide, tranny cooler, ect, ect did not come OEM. ~ yes hide your wallet now...I've only been here 4 months and I arrived bone stock!

The manual ids the differential switch as a "Center Differential Lock Switch." Is this the same as a rear diff lock? If not, can someone explain the difference?
It also came with Dunlop TG35 GrandTrek P265/70R16 tires.

Basically the center diff lock is the equivalent of part-time 4WD, which is what the older 3rd gens came with. It forces the front and rear driveshafts to turn at the same speed. A rear locker locks the rear differential so both rear tires are forced to turn at the same speed.
With 3 open differentials and 4WD (also known as Full-time 4WD or All-Wheel-Drive) it only takes loss of traction on one tire to get stuck. With 2 open differentials and 4WD (also known as Part-time 4WD) it takes loss of traction on one front tire and one rear tire to get stuck. With part-time 4WD and a rear-locker it takes loss of traction on both rear tires & one front tire to get stuck.

Nope, not the same thing.
A rear electric locking diff locks both sides of your rear axle together so that they both spin at the same rate.
The center locking diff that you have makes your front and rear drive shafts turn at the same rate (just like part-time 4 wheel drive system). I believe if you leave the center diff unlocked, you are essentially running in all-wheel drive mode.
I hope I didn't screw any of that explanation up
