looks good! how is the ride with the 883's in front? When you get a chance, can you measure the height from the ground to the middle of the fender?

JWaldz, thanks I'm very happy with everything and how it sits too. The dunlops seem like they are a lot quieter than the mastercraft m/ts that I had before. I haven't driven too much on dry pavement though, it snowed right after I got them on. These severe service winter muds are great in the powder!

So I just got back off the trails, did a little nightime snow run to deep creek. Loving the new suspension. Finally got the tires to rub, but only against the inside of the mudflaps in the back. No rubbing anywhere else... and I was trying. So, the flaps are coming off tomorrow and it doesn't look like I'll need the 1" body lift.

I'm still thinkin about it, I agree it does look better higher. If it weren't for my ARB, I probably would have done it already. I could drill some new holes in the bumper to mount it higher, but I plan on getting a winch sooner or later and I'm not so sure about the leverage that it will put on the mounts like that. 1" might not be a big deal for that though.

Thanks guys for the replies. I removed the mudflaps this morning, cruised out to Pilot Rock and put the suspension to the test and it was great! I hit the bump stops a few times but no rubbing. Here's a sweet flex shot:
![]() jdmaccord6, I took some measurements and from the ground to the bottom edge of the front fenders (in the middle) it's 38 5/8". The rear is 38 3/4" with about 250 lbs of junk in the back. That's sitting on brand new 285 MTs.

Looks good, you can't beat the ride of the 883's with the 891's. I put on a set and did a cross country drive and runner had a ride that was "wonderfully stiff" as you said. One of a my friends told me "it rides like a bank vault". I don't know how a bank vault rides but I'll take it as a compliment.
But don't think about 883's with stock bumper. I put them on before I put on my bumper just to see how it would ride and it about knocked my kidneys loose. With the bumper and winch on it gives it a very good firm ride. Of course my springs has 230,000 miles on them and my back springs where so bad the truck was sitting on the bump stops on the axle so any new springs were an improvement.

Coming along nicely
If you care about the couple inches of exposed sections on the f/fenders, grab a pair of these flaps and cut them in half...essentially extending the fender flare but still removing the flap. You can do the same for the rear flare that hangs below the body. Never understood why Toyota poorly designed the black "SR5" flares/running boards that way. While attached, mask tape or draw a line, remove, cut, and reattach.Far as adding a body lift, go by this ancient golden rule... "Lift as much as needed, but as little as possible" 1/2" body lifts are available through 4crawler. |

Thanks guys, it's been a work in progress for a long time and I don't see and end in sight! I probably think of something new I want almost everyday. In a way it would kinda suck to be rich and just mod everything out in 3 days and have it all (being rich would be cool in every other regard though). But figuring out what you want, saving up, installing it, deciding you don't like it anymore, breaking it, changing it to a better design, I love it all.
It's the means not the end. I've been adding stuff for 9 years and it's almost like my 4runner has slowly become one of my best friends. It's kinda like that - or maybe like a pet. I think I would be almost just as upset if something happened to her. Rocket, I hear you on the poorly designed flares. I took my running boards off so many years ago, I've just gotten used to the look, but I like those!! I might just have to add them to the list. And I'm gonna just go ahead and stick the Ban deoderant guy here cuz I can.

Aaaaahhhhhhh, you guys are killen me with the 881/spacer vs 883 coils riden stiff as hell with my stock bumper and a "wannabe" Grille Guard. Now i'm not sure what to get. My 4Runner is a DD and I really don't do a whole lot of wheelin (since I live in DE) and really no place to go.
Whats your opinion? Bob

Without about 100 lbs extra weight in the front, the 883 will be a rough ride. The 881/spacers will ride much smoother. Only if you have plans to get a winch bumper in the near future, would I recommend getting the 883s instead.

No plans for that, so it looks like 881 with spacer for me. Thanks
