Smile New Roof Rack!

Just thought i'd post some pics of my new roof rack and basket with 4 55w spots. The roof rack was courtesy of a guy on the yotasurf forum. Couldnt get new bars anywhere so these were second had. They are original Toyota ones and were bare aluminium with creamy colour ends. Painted the whole thing yesterday and it came out brilliant. Still have to wire up the lights, but you get the idea! Mucho happy now! Gona mount my hilift up there too, just have to decide how!

That looks great Derek, They look like "Ring" spotlights. If they are then that what I have sitting in the garage waiting to go onto whatever roof basket I get...

Cheers Guys! Yeah Ciaran, they are 'Ring' spots. Had two already and got another set on Sat for €25. The basket cost €55 in the Motor Store at the Liffey Valley centre. Fairly lightweight, which is a good and a bad thing whicever way you look at it!

Derek, let me get this straight. The basket was only €55??? And you mounted it onto a set of crossbars.
I was gonna get a Surco basket but that would have been around €250 delivered from the US. I think I'll head up to the MotorStore at the weekend. Can you give me the specs on the basket

Cheers...

Cant remember the make at the moment, but when i get home i'll have a look and post the details. Its not a heavy duty one and its only 1.1m long so may not be what you want.

The factory roof rail on mine start a few inches behind the sunroof and any basket I get is going to be fitted onto these. I will want to have the basket/lights well clear of the sunroof so the size 1.1m/44" could be just right. Let me know the width as well.

Sorry, its actually 1.1m wide and about 1m long. 'Automaxi' is the make of it. They are all on the left as you go into the motor store. Funny, still priced in punts even though the euro has been in for two years now. Obviously dont sell many of them or else it's a clever marketing ploy. Anyway you can see it in person on Sunday. Dont know if you read the other post but we were thinking about 2pm. Hows that for you?

Derek, it probably wont matter which way it's fitted. 1.1m across or lengthways. The rack is gonna be cosmetic anyway. It's really only there to hold the spots...

Oh and 2pm sounds good. Only thing is, I left the Surf in for it's body repair this morning, so with that and the machine polish it's getting, I'm hoping that I'll have it back for the weekend!!!

Fingers crossed
