new first gen cargo bay panels

Has anyone cut alluminium and made new cargo bay panels for first gen runners? My PO ruined mine when he put in 6x9 speakers and when they were painting my tailgate and quater panels they got primer all over them anyways


anybody have pics or a design?

There is a thread on YT about interiors w/ some pics I posted of some custom aluminum cargo bay panels. It is a recent thread, but I didn't start it. I'll let you search for it...but shouldn't be hard to find.

i actually think there are two recent ones. they arent the exact sane topic but similar. i believe one is about the cargo area and one is just the interior in general. i started the general interior one.

hmm i like the metal but it would look foolish if i had metal panels just in the cargo bay...i guess i could carpet them...i just find it easier to work with metal than wood...no cracking or nonsense like that.


I like the three piece design which works nice with the jack so i wouldnt have to make a new door...i guess tomrrow i need to start drawing out a plan than eventally take the top off and unbolt hte roll bar.

you should just go to a local plastic store and buy ABS (a type of plastic) sheets. might be a little bit easier to work with.

i want something stronger than plastic though....im mouthing heavy 6x9 speakers...that wont work out any better than stock.

plastic is plastic...it vibrates and i have a pretty strong stereo...it wont work out but thanks for the idea


i think im going to go with aluminum panels than a layer of dynamat...than a layer of foam...than carpet. (will feel nice haha)
