This is a strange request, but I need some help. My 4runner did not come with a cargo cover, and thus does not have the cutouts for the brackets. I bought the cover and brackets and looked at it while I was at the junkyard. I saw the rear-most mounts have two metal brackets that it screws in to, which means I need to make the cuts in exactly the right place. Of course I didn't have any measuring tools or digital camera with me, so I couldn't get a precise location nailed down. (I had just gone to pick up a few small things...wasn't thinking ahead). I did cut out a "template" from a junked rear panel so I atleast have the pattern for the rear mounts that I can draw onto my panel.

I was hoping that somone out there with the cover could take a few minutes and take some measurements/pictures for me of the bracket locations so that I can make sure I don't screw up the rear panels putting in the brackets. Your help is much appreciated!

Do you know what specifically is different? The only difference I noticed were the cutouts. I looked at both styles of panel at the yard, and the non-cargo cover actually has the brackets attached to the body panel just like the cargo cover equipped models. The front panels as I recall just screwed on to the existing panel, without any recess cut out for it. I definitely would like to hear more so I don't cut my panels and then find out I'm SOL ;-)

Too bad you're not a little closer or we could get together and compare. I'm in Redwood City. If you every wander over this way, let me know!

Ok guys, got stage 1 of the installation done today. Few things learned in the process.

1. Confirmed all panels are the same, and all are ready to accept the cargo cover (ie: they have the internal plastic bosses to screw the metal plate to)
2. Panels are pre-marked for the cutouts on the inside, atleast in the back. I doubt I will pull the front half of the panel to get at the template for the front. But if you wanted to remove the whole panel, it would make cutting simple.
3. Flexible shaft dremel and mini-stubby phillips #1 screwdriver make this a lot easier.
4. There are not enough gray trucks with cargo cover brackets in my local junkyards
