Need 2 CA catalytic converters for 99 4runner.
I have a 95 4runner with a 99 3.4 in it. The CA smog referee said that I need the 99 california exhaust with dual cats. If anyone has one or two for sale let me know, or if you know a place to get them cheaper that the dealer. They want a fortune for them new.
Thanks

I need cats that have a CA approved plate on them, at least that is what I have been told. If I did not have to go back to the referee I would just buy universal ones, which I here work just as good but do not have the CA id plate. Also, the junkyard in CA will not sell you a CAT. This states smog crap sucks.

That is a crappy situation because most of the time the junkyards aren't allowed to sell you used converters (definately not in CA at least) and they are forced by law to recycle them. I think they are being overly strict on this but my opinion on this doesn't do much to change the situation. You might get stuck buying cats from a dealer in this case unless you can find a junkyard in another state that has some they are willing to ship out there (not sure if shipping those is banned in CA or not).
Try www.car-part.com to see if you can locate a salvage yard willing to sell you a set.
Search for "exhaust manifold" and start calling to see if they have the converters and are willing to sell.
Worst case, give Phil (strap22) a PM and get OEM pricing from him (he's a Toyota parts dealer in Dallas)
Also try Evan Nichols at Northridge Toyota 818-734-5600 (he's a Toyota parts dealer in Los Angeles)
