This is how you port a 3.0 intake manifold
Just thought I would throw this out there to see if any one else has taken a sawzall to thier manifold to be creative?
works darn good too.

Forgot to take any pics of the other half but rest assured its all cleaned out as well. Took me very little time to port the back half straight sections. Humm cant get my pic of the whole engine compartment uploaded??

ohh I guess it did work.

Wow. How did you polish it like that? Mine is ported and polished like that, but I didn't do it myself. I will be kicking myself in the ass if this is easily done on one's own.

I cut it in half with a sawzall then used a die grinder/rotary file (burr) and cut it out using an 1 3/8th freez plug welded to a coat hanger for a guage. Once all the rough cutting was done I cleaned it up using 60 grit 1.5" flapper wheel on the same die grinder. Unless you wanna pay $500+ to have it extrude honed I dont see any other way to get the whole manifold with out cutting it?

On my 1st manifold I simply port mached it to the gasket but as you can see the individual runners are quiet small.

Did you put your bored throttle body on by its self? I was curios what kind of improvments you got from the throttle body? I may do that next I cant decide.

You are a brave man. After welding it back together did everything work out/fit back up ok? How do you like the improvement in airflow?

My intake and plenum are ported and polished like that and I had my throttle body bored at the same time, so I put it all back together, together.

With the two mods working together I had substantial gains in power. But I can not tell you how much of a gain in performance you will get from one or the other alone. All in all, I am very happy with my improved air flow. The 3.0 will probably never haul ass, but at least now I can keep up with most people.
