Talking Note

One should note that the OEM 4Runner rims and OEM LX rims look very similar but the LX rims are 16"x8" and 4.5" of BS instead of 16"x7" like the ones on the 4Runner.

So what tire/rim package will it be next month?

LX wheels and 285 MT/R's are the ticket... Don't complain, you got my old OEM wheels and Duelers, so you benefitted too...

LOL... I paid for the nittos. I got the duelers in a swap of sorts. Got the MT/R's from Brian in a swap for my OEM wheels and 265 tires. I got the LX wheels in a swap today... 5 steel Tech 1's for 4 LX wheels. Even swap. Can't beat that.

Sold old Michelins on ebay for $300...
Paid $540 for the nittos and put 14k on them.
Bought some take-off Taco wheels and NEW Dueler M/T's locally.
Swapped the Duelers onto the runner.
Sold the Taco wheels and Nittos and pretty much broke even.
Traded the OEM Wheels and Duelers for the Steelies and MT/R's
Traded the Steelies for LX Alloys.

In all, I've driven about 16k miles, and have paid about $450 total out of pocket, and I have the 4 LX wheels worth $500 and 5 MT/R's worth $600...

Very nice, my next decision is which wheel/tire combo to get. That looks like a viable option right now.

So let me get this straight, the OEM 16x7 4Runner wheels are 16x7 with 3.75in of backspacing, the OEM 16x8 LX wheels have 4.5 so this gives you the .25in needed to clear the stock a-arm's with 285's?

4Runner : 16x7 w/ 4.375" Backspacing

Tech 1 Steelies : 16x8 w/ 4.25" Backspacing (285's rubbed on turns w/ OME 882's up front)

LX450/FZJ80 wheels : 16x8 w/ 4.5" backspacing (rubbing on the street is gone - 0.25" closer to the frame than the steelies)

I have yet to change my mind... I knew I couldn't easily run 285's on the 16x7 alloys. I knew I didn't want to spend major $$$ on new 16x8 alloys and new MT/R's. I knew that the Duelers were an incredible deal, so I snatched them up when I had the chance. I also knew that if I came across the right deal for some 16x8s and 285's that they'd be sacrificed with the quickness. It just so happens that Brian needed the OEM alloys and smaller tires at the right time, and I did some legwork and found someone fairly close to trade the Tech 1's for the 16x8's in an even swap. It's just a matter of doing the right thing at the right time for it to work out like that. I'm very happy with them. They aren't going anywhere If I wouldn't have made the earlier trades, I wouldn't have been able to make the last one to get the LX wheels and MT/R's. It's like going through LA to get from Miami to NYC, but if the price is lower to have some stops on the way, then why not???

Looks good.

I believe someone else on the board ran those wheels with 285's and had issues rubbing the a-arm? Maybe I'm wrong, but they were on a white 3rd gen from somewhere out west.

Any idea if the LX 450 wheels will fit a 4th Gen (2003 4x4 Limited)?

Thanks for the compliments. The centercaps are still Lexus - and oval w/ a slanted L instead of the funky T - an oval is an oval. I'll paint them solid silver and not trim out the emblem and you'll never know unless you look really closely. So far, I've had no A-Arm rubbnig issues. I still only have the sus lift and no body lift, so I haven't even tried a stuff cause I know they'll rub like a biieeeeootch. I'll check the stuffed rub after the BL is on...

I bet the LC center caps would fit those wheels, Then you'd have the toyota symbol.
BTW I am very jelous and have been looking for a set of these for the last few months. Nobody out here (pacifc NW) has these rigs. The search goes on.
