Ahh had the same problem with my 2001 Runner had acorns and the insulation in the "cage" had to clean it all out they were in the cabin filter box as well I had the truck put up for around 2 months and we live in a rural area so this is "common" but put a coupld of dryer sheets around and you will not see any mice (it works I have done it)...also destroyed my friends bmw chewed through wiper wires and the washer fluid hoses big bucks they can cost you!

Yes! I LMAO too. I've never been a fan of quotes in the sig line, but I am going to have to use this one - at least for a while.
Thank you Stumby!
Anyways, regarding the actual problem.... I'm not convinced it could be the doing of a mouse. I think it's part of the truck. Did you do any moving around of parts around that area ever? Or maybe the PO did it? How long have you owned your truck?

The truck is a 96. I bought it will 99K miles on it, it now has ~135K, and I haven't done any work on it under the dash.
The only place I have seen insulation installed in the truck that looks similar to the yellow stuff is a small square on the firewall that you can barely make out in the pic of the engine compartment above. No insulation directly under the hood or anywhere else that I've seen. I get the feeling that it sucked in from somewhere.
