Lift question I can't find the answer too..
Hey,
I have an OME lift on my 98 4runner. Now the back end is all jacked up and the front sits a little lower, giving it a weird hot rod-ish look to it. I was hoping to put some 1" leveling kit up front, to level it out a bit, and to make sure 285's don't rub. What I was wondering is will I have to do anything else to do this? Extend the steering, drop the diff. CV changes. etc. etc. I know how to slam cars, but lifting is pretty new to me. Any help would be great or if you could point me to somewhere that can answer my questions I would greatly appreciate it.

I think I have a set of 1/2" top out spacers in my garage, bought them with my OME lift and didn't use them. I would be more than happy to sell them for a good price.

What coils do you have on it? (front and back) One inch may be more than you want. I would take a jack, measure the front, lift the front till it looks right, measure again. This will give you your lift wanted. Remember, the rear will settle a little. (maybe 1/2")
ToyTec sells a couple of top plate spacers. One that will give you ~1/2" and one that will give you ~3/4".

It's always better to lift with springs instead of spacers. See if OME will swap springs for you since your providing labor . Check out the truck with some load in back (this will help with any settling as well). My Alcan springs on the Taco sit a bit high to allow for that fact that there's no longer a load leaf in the pack, point being your truck may also sag a bit more when loaded now that you've added longer, high articulation springs.

Hey, guys thanks for the advice. Yes I have 881's up front with the 91s's. It has been on for about a 2 months. I am thinking that 1/2" spacers would solve my problem after measuring. I don't really want to change springs as I am happy with the ride and to my understanding 882's and 883's cause a different ride. I only want to level it out and make sure that 285's wont rub in hard turns, which it looks like they might as it is now.

Yeah man the spacers should take care of your problem. I know with my 265/75/16 tires with that same lift I had to do some trimming on the front inner wheel well.

I had this same problem:
Front suspension:
N91SC shocks
OME 881 COILS
REAR SUSPENSION:

I added a 1" Cornfed and I have leveled out and this is with a TJM 15 up front. It's a little bit heavier than the stock Limited bumper so I don't know if it's really putting on any more weight. I have tried 285's and it fits fine, though you may want to get rims with a different backspacing. Mine did rub on the A-arm and not on any of the inner wells.
I do have 265/75/16 and I have no rubbing anywhere. There's not a big difference between stock and the 265's right? I could be mistaken.

After having sagging issues with spacers, I'm not a fan of them. I'm not sure how the OME springs would stand up to a spacer, but the stock springs sagged badly. My 2.5" Daystar kit eventually turned out to be 1" of lift up front.
Your best option is probably the OME 882 coils. Your shocks will work with them and they give a full 3" of lift. That way, you're lifting it the right way from the start and never have to worry about sagging.

The spacers that most people are talking about are top-plate spacers, not the pre-load kind such as your daystars. While swapping out to a heavier duty spring would probably be a better option it also costs more and adding the spacer would be cost effective, not change the ride quality, and isn't as detrimental to the spring itself as the pre-load kind.
Also, I believe the issue of decreased ride quality and worse handling with going to a different OME spring is unfounded. The OME spring information I have shows that the 881's and 882's both have a 500 ft. lb. spring rate and .630 bar diameter. The only difference being in the length of the spring. Free height wise, the 881 is 14.75" and the 882 is 15.55", more than .75" taller. Based on that, the ride quality and handling should be identical between both springs since the only difference is the length.
Basically, it boils down to what the OP is able to do. If he can exchange the 881's for 882's, that would be the best way to go. Otherwise, the spacers will achieve the same basic lift height, but add $60+ to the cost of the original springs.

I did the exact same OME lift and don't like the "raked" look much.. I'm finally going to put the spacers on tomorrow.. I'll be level soon!! also... make sure to take the lower four bolts off on the lower knuckle of the suspension (you'll see the underneath)... the normal way doesn't work since the shock/coil assembly in combination with the spacer will be too long and won't fit, I tryed so hard to make it work, even disconnected my sway bar completely hah
